We encourage sustainable transport where possible. A Bike Park will be available but please note that bikes are left at the owner’s own risk.

By Car

Please be aware that thousands of people will be aiming for the start of the race at the same time as you so we advise allowing plenty of time to travel and park. Lift sharing is strongly encouraged. If traveling on the M4 you can:

• Leave at junction 37 (and take the exit for Porthcawl/Pyle on the A4229) then, at the roundabout take the first exit for Porthcawl).
• Leave at junction 35 (at Pencoed, and take the A473 towards Bridgend then follow signage to Porthcawl).

Parking

Runners are encouraged to pre-book their parking for a stress-free experience on race day.  A number of car parks are available to pre-book, but with limited capacity – are expected to sell out prior to event day so early booking is encouraged. Users should arrive from junction 37 of the M4 and then follow event signage as they approach the town centre.

Please note that you cannot drive into the car park without a booking to drop someone off.

Please see details below on the car park options. The timings differ with each option, with some best suited to faster runners hoping to leave soon after finishing the race.

Please note a small non-refundable booking fee is charged on top of the parking charge by Let’s Do This, who manage our online registration platform.

Car park details are as follows:

Sandy Bay (Event Car Park – Entrance A)

Cost: £6

Details: A short, approximately a quarter of a mile walk to the start, great for faster participants wishing to leave Porthcawl early and not to have to wait for roads to open in the town centre.

Open: 07:30-16:00.

Salt Lake (Event Car Park – Entrance B)

Cost: £6

Details: Popular with day-trippers and convenient for participants due to its proximity to the start. Best to arrive early to avoid the queues. Please note, you won’t be able to exit Salt Lake Car Park until 11:20, so if you are a faster runner looking to finish and leave promptly, please park in one of the other car parks.

Open: 07:00 until late.

Disabled Parking: Free disabled car parking is available at Salt Lake, but must still be pre-booked.

Height Restrictions: Please note that the max permitted vehicle height for this car park is 8ft 6.

 

Porthcawl Comprehensive School (Event Car Park – Entrance C)

Cost: £6

Details: Handy location for the start, just a short walk away. 

Open: 07:30- 16:00.

Disabled Car Parking

Free disabled parking is available at Salt Lake (Event Car Park B) but must be pre-booked.
